Michelle Ashford is an American motion picture producer and writer. She is a Consulting Producer and writer for the first season of Boomtown. She has subsequently worked with Boomtown creator Graham Yost on John Adams and The Pacific.

Earlier career[]
Ashford made her television writing debut with an episode of the crime drama Cagney & Lacey in 1988. She then wrote for the crime drama Hill Street Blues in fall 1988. She was a story editor for the third season and wrote for three episodes of the show. She returned in fall 1989 as an Executive Story Editor for the fourth season. She wrote a further four episodes of the series. She remained in this role for the fifth and final season beginning fall 1990. She was then a producer for the television series WIOU in 1990.
In 1995 she was an Executive Producer and writer for the drama series New York News. Also in 1995 she wrote and executive produced the television feature Kansas. In 1997 she was a Consulting Producer and writer for the drama series Michael Hayes.
In 1998 she was a writer and Executive Producer for the medical drama L.A. Doctors. She wrote and executive produced the television feature ATF in 1999.
Boomtown[]
In fall 2002 she joined the crew of new crime drama Boomtown as a Consulting Producer and writer. She joined the crew after the pilot had been produced and debuted with the second episode "Possession". She wrote the third episode "The Squeeze", and the sixth episode "The Freak". She left her Consulting Producer position after the thirteenth episode "Home Invastion". She wrote the first season finale "Lost Child" but did not return for the second season in fall 2003.
Later career[]
In fall 2004 she was an Executive Producer and co-writer for the pilot of Medical Investigation. She worked alongside the series creator Jason Hortwitch. The series was picked up but she did not return to the crew.
In 2008 she was a writer for the HBO historical drama miniseries John Adams. She co-wrote the fourth part "Reunion" with Kirk Ellis. Boomtown creator Graham Yost was a Consulting Producer for the project. Also in 2008 she was a writer for the series Suburban Shootout.
In 2010 Ashford was a writer and Co-Producer for the HBO World War II miniseries The Pacific. She co-wrote the third part "Melbourne" with acclaimed novelist and fellow Co-Producer George Pelecanos. She co-wrote the eighth part "Iwo Jima" with fellow Co-Producer Robert Schenkkan. Ashford and Schenkkan were nominated for the Emmy Award for Best Writing for a Miniseries or Movie for "Iwo Jima". They won the Writers Guild of America Award for Miniseries for the episode. Yost was a co-executive producer for the show.
In 2012 she wrote and Executive Produced the television feature Masters of Sex.
